Road Safety Officers from Cambridgeshire County Council in partnership with Skanska attended this year’s Cambridge University Fresher’s Fair to promote cycle safety for students.
Students were able to sit in a selection of large vehicles and experience for themselves just exactly what the driver is able to see and have explained to them where the blind spots are for the driver.
Ben Cross, Supply Chain Collaboration Manager, Skanska, said: ‘We were pleased to be able to once again sponsor the Cycle Safety Park at Fresher’s Fair and work with the Road Safety Team to promote cycle safety.
‘Skanska are determined to be the leaders in promoting FORS and CLOCS across the industry. We have a passion for keeping our local cycling community safe.’
Lyn Hesse, Senior Road Safety Officer, Cambridgeshire County Council, said: ‘Cycling is healthy and fun and is certainly the quickest way to get around Cambridge. But we want to remind students that there are things they can do to help keep themselves safe, such as making sure they can be seen, wearing a helmet and keeping to the Highway Code.’
