West Horsley Dairy, a FORS Gold accredited operator, is a family business based in Woking, Surrey. West Horsley Dairy started deliveries 23 years ago using one small van and now runs over 40+ vehicles in London and throughout South East England, delivering to over 1,400 different premises.
West Horsley Dairy take pride in being a professional operator and joined FORS to ensure that it was publicly recognised for this commitment. West Horsley Dairy was one of the first companies to gain FORS Bronze accreditation in 2008 and have since graduated through the scheme gaining Silver in 2011 and FORS Gold status this month.
West Horsley Dairy has also committed to making the most of their accreditation by utilising the FORS training on offer to operators. One of their managers was in the first group of managers to achieve FORS Practitioner status in 2010.
Being a member of FORS has encouraged West Horsley Dairy to perform at the highest level and take the lead with new environmentally benefitting technology. West Horsley Dairy were keen to put an electric powered delivery truck onto the fleet but recognised the restrictions of the chilled/frozen goods sector so developed an alternative vehicle that would reduce diesel consumption without compromising operational flexibility.
West Horsley Dairy is the only operator in the UK with an electric hybrid vehicle coupled with a eutectic refrigerated body and therefore operating the UK’s greenest hybrid food service delivery lorry. They have now put on the road another four electric hybrid lorries and wrapped them in a distinctive eco wrap so that they stand out from the crowd.
Commenting on the success of their FORS accreditation, a spokesperson for West Horsley Dairy said: ‘Obtaining the FORS Gold standard tells our customers that we mean business. We don’t just want to comply or even run a quality operation that stands still. We wish to join those operators who are working towards setting new and exceptional standards for industry.’
